John Pool - Chapter 765 President

I have been a member of EAA since 1994 and a member of EAA 765 for the past eight (8) years. After many years of wanting to learn to fly an airplane I finally made the decision in the summer of 1994. Merle Root owned Red Wolf Aviation located on the field at Kingman Airfield and agreed to take on the task of instructing me in the art of aircraft flight and control. On June 21, 1994 began a journey I had longed for since childhood and which I am still enjoying and adding to each time I head out to the airport to experience what ever the day holds for me as long as it involves airplanes.

On January 15th., 2005 I was blessed by my friend Paul George when he gave me the keys to his C-150 and told me fly it anytime I wanted. I flew 61221 for a year and on January 13th. 2006 I purchased 61221 from Paul and made my first flight in my OWN aircraft. Being fortunate to fly the same aircraft over and over allows one to become very familiar with the personal maintenance & flight characteristics of the plane. Doing owner/maintenance also builds confidence in the machine and yourself.

January of 2006 was a busy month with just purchasing the C-150 I also joined with two partners and we decided to build an experimental aircraft. We purchased a Zenith Zodiac 601XL Kit manufactured by the Zenith Aircraft Corp. in Mexico, MO. Three years and many hours later the plane is flying and performing as advertised. The knowledge learned and the thrill of flying the Experimental has been great and continues be fun as we come to the end of the testing phase of the project.

I am thankful that I have been able to see my dream come true and have had the joy of giving youth and adults their first ride in an airplane. Never give up on your dreams!!!!
